KbBurnUI IT8252E248A · IT8176FN · IT8259E248A · IT8258E248A — ITE Keyboard Controller (KBC/EC) Firmware Writer & Burner (10 Credits)

KbBurnUI is a licensed Windows program that reads, backs up and writes the firmware of ITE embedded keyboard controllers (secondary KBC / RGB EC). It supports the ITE-based keyboard/RGB controllers (IT8252 / IT8259 / IT8258 / IT8176FN / IT8295FN) used in ASUS ROG, Lenovo Legion / IdeaPad Gaming and TongFang / Monster / Clevo laptops. It fixes faults where the keyboard and per-key RGB lighting are dead — including cases ASUS's official "ROG Keyboard Firmware Update" tool cannot solve.

This product sells 10 credits for KbBurnUI. Your license key is unique to your account, and future purchases add credits to the same key.

How the credit system works

  • Firmware Backup → 1 credit (reads and saves the current firmware).
  • Full Auto Write (erase + erase verify + write + write verify) → 4 credits.

✔ No credit is charged on a failed operation. If the write does not complete or returns an error (verify failed, connection lost, chip not powered, etc.), no credit is deducted. A credit is spent only when the operation completes successfully.

Validity: Purchased credits are valid for 5 years. Whenever you top up (buy more credits), the validity is renewed to 5 years again.

How many credits do I need?
• 5 credits = enough for 1 PC (1 successful write + firmware read).
• 10 credits let you do 2 successful writes (firmware read included).
• Need more? Simply add as many of this product to your cart as you like.

⚠ Important — you must have the firmware file to be written.
KbBurnUI is a writing / programming tool; you (or your repair technician) decide which firmware is written to your device. The program does not provide ready-made firmware. You need to obtain the correct firmware from a backup (dump) taken from a working device of the same model / same chip or from a trusted source. Writing the wrong model firmware can break the keyboard (the program warns on wrong size / incompatible files, but model correctness is your responsibility). If you do not have the firmware, you can contact us via the remote support option below.

Download & try before you buy (no credits needed)

You can download and run the program without loading any credits. The "Read Device Info" feature works without credits — connect your device and check whether the chip is detected and compatible before purchasing. Credits are only required for backup and write operations.

⬇ Download KbBurnUI

Requirements & first run

  • An active internet connection is required to run the program (license validation).
  • On first launch Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Open Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control and temporarily turn it off, then run KbBurnUI. You can re-enable it afterwards.
  • Interface languages: English, Turkish and Russian are supported.

License delivery

For credit / debit card payments the license key is delivered instantly. For bank transfer (wire) the key is delivered after the payment is confirmed. You can always find your key in your order confirmation e-mail and under My Account → My Orders.

⚠ Security & responsibility: Your license key and credits are personal to you. The program runs on credits; each operation reduces your balance. If you forget to remove the program from a computer after use and someone else then uses that computer, any credits they spend are your responsibility. On shared computers, removing the program and your license details after use is entirely up to the user. Our company cannot be held responsible for credits spent this way.

Supported chips (ITE keyboard / RGB EC)

KbBurnUI reads, backs up and rewrites the following ITE (ITE Tech. Inc.) secondary keyboard / RGB embedded controllers. Compatibility depends on your device's chip (not the laptop brand):

The chip is usually the secondary keyboard controller on the mainboard (e.g. U8003 on ASUS), typically in an LQFP-64 / LQFP-128 package. Searchable names: IT8252, IT8252E, IT8252E248A, IT8259, IT8259E248, IT8258, IT8258E248A, IT8176, IT8176FN, IT8295, IT8295FN, ITE EC, ITE KBC, secondary keyboard controller, embedded controller, keyboard RGB controller.

Compatible models (verified)

⚠ This list is NOT exhaustive. The models below are verified examples; other models that use the same ITE chip but are not listed here are also compatible. What matters is that your device has one of the chips above — if unsure, check with "Read Device Info" for free.

Note: ROG Strix G15 (G513) and G17 (G713) share the same mainboard. Advantage Edition = G513QY / G713QY (all-AMD). New N-KEY ROG models use the IT8259 chip.

Lenovo Legion / IdeaPad Gaming — IT8258 / IT8176FN

KbBurnUI writes the IT8258 / IT8258E248A and IT8176FN secondary KBC chips used in the Lenovo Legion and IdeaPad Gaming series. Verified models (with 10+ mainboard dumps): Legion Y7000, Y540, Y740, Y590S, 5-15IMH05H, 5-15ITH6H, Legion S7 16IAH7 (NM-E461), Legion 7 & Pro 7 16IRX8H / 16ITHg6 (NM-D721), IdeaPad Gaming 3 / Gaming 5.

Note: On some Legion mainboards the firmware may live on an external SPI flash; please verify your device before mass use.

TongFang / Monster / Clevo — IT8295FN

Supported are Monster (TongFang-based) laptops and Clevo / TongFang keyboards that use the same ITE 8291 / 8295 keyboard family (read / backup verified).

When can it recover the chip?

If the chip has no physical burn and no short circuit in measurements — especially when it broke after a firmware update or similar firmware-related faults — the programming process can usually bring the chipset back to a working state. (Chips with physical damage, a short circuit or a power fault need hardware repair first.)

Facing a tricky case? Let our technical team connect remotely

If your device has the chip but the program cannot write it or reports "not supported", you can contact us on WhatsApp and request remote support. Remote support is charged at 10 credits with no time limit; our technical team connects and completes the operation for you. Note: Remote support is not instant; after your request an appointment is scheduled based on our technical team's availability.

Typical fault this solves

  • Keyboard suddenly dead + all per-key RGB / Aura lighting off, power button still works.
  • Keyboard shows as "Standard PS/2 keyboard" but no keys register; RGB completely off.
  • Keyboard & backlight dead after motherboard repair or after replacing the KBC chip (chip needs matching firmware).
  • A firmware / BIOS update was interrupted and the keyboard controller is stuck in "upgrade mode" (ITE bootloader / download mode) — including models the official ASUS "ROG Keyboard Firmware Update" tool does not support or cannot recover.

Firmware written, keys work but RGB did not come on?

This can be expected and is usually a system issue, not the chip. Try in order:

  1. Restart the computer. After writing firmware the keys work, but the lighting may not appear on the first boot; a restart usually enables the RGB.
  2. Still nothing: the RGB software (ASUS Armoury Crate / Aura Sync) full version is not installed. On ASUS devices the key lighting is driven through this software. Install the full version of Armoury Crate from the ASUS support page (including the Aura Creator / Aura Sync services), doing a clean reinstall if needed. When the software is missing or outdated the keys can work while RGB stays off — this is not a firmware fault.
  3. If none of this helps: the written firmware may not exactly match your device model. Even with the same chip, firmware from a different variant can make the keys work while leaving the RGB layout incomplete. Write the correct firmware for your exact model / variant; if unsure, contact us via remote support below.

Note: If the keys or RGB still do not work even after writing the correct firmware, either the firmware truly does not match your device, or there is a hardware fault on the chip / mainboard (physical damage, short circuit, power problem) — in that case software is not the solution and hardware repair is required first. KbBurnUI is a writing tool; it does not write to physically faulty / damaged chips and does not repair them. (See the "When can it recover the chip?" section above.)

In short: KbBurnUI supports ASUS ROG, Lenovo Legion/IdeaPad Gaming and TongFang/Monster/Clevo devices that use the IT8252 / IT8259 / IT8258 / IT8176FN / IT8295FN ITE keyboard / RGB controller chips. The tables above list verified models; other variants sharing the same mainboard / same chip family are also compatible. If you are unsure about your model, check the chip marking, test with "Read Device Info" for free, or ask us.
