What is PCM8990?

  • PCM (Phase Change Material) is a high thermal conductivity Thermal Interface Material (TIM) that is in pad form.
  • Used instead of thermal greases. Extra resistant to pump-out issue with thermal greases.
  • 0.25mm in thickness.
  • When the heat source reaches 52℃, it changes its phase into a paste-like form.
  • Provides high thermal conductivity in both pad and paste forms.
  • Spreads homogeneously across the surface to minimize thermal resistance between electronic components and heatsinks.
  • Long-term reliability: passed 150°C baking for 1000 hours and 1000 cycles of T/C-B testing.
  • Low thermal impedance: <0.03 °C·cm²/W, ideal for high-performance devices.
  • Cost-effective and suitable for a wide range of applications.
  • Designed to provide superior thermal conductivity, PCM-8990 phase change pad is widely preferred by various industries for reliable and efficient heat transfer.
  • The product has been tested in accordance with ASTM D5470, ASTM D792, ASTM D374, ASTM D149, and UL94 standards.

Application: 

  1. Make sure to clean the surfaces thoroughly from dust, rust, residues of thermal paste etc. before application.
  2. If the room temperature is high, the thermal pad may stick to the protective film. Thus, refrigerate the product for about 10 minutes before use.
  3. Cut the thermal pad according to the size of the chip (DIE or heatsink) to be applied.
  4. Remove one of the protective films, place the pad on the chip, and press gently to ensure it adheres well.
  5. Carefully hold the small tab of the other protective film layer, peel it off quickly, and mount the heatsink. Voila!
