The MP2857 (MP2857GQKT) is a dual-loop, digital multi-phase PWM controller with a PMBus interface, specifically designed by Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) to provide power to the core of advanced AMD SVI3 platforms. Thanks to its innovative architecture, it can be configured for up to 12-phase operation on rail 1 and up to 4-phase operation on rail 2, supporting up to 16 phases (12+4 phase) of power management in total. By operating in perfect harmony with MPS's proprietary Intelli-Phase products, it completes a high-performance Voltage Regulator (VR) solution with minimal external components. Its unique digital nonlinear control infrastructure enables it to provide an exceptionally fast transient response to load variations in the system, even with a minimal number of output capacitors. With its on-chip Non-Volatile Memory (NVM), device configurations and fault statuses can be securely stored and restored. It is a highly specific power management controller frequently utilized in modern graphics cards (GPUs) and high-end motherboard designs to ensure precise voltage regulation and comprehensive telemetry monitoring (reporting voltage, current, power, and temperature via PMBus).
