The MP2856 (MP2856GUT) is a dual-loop, digital multi-phase PWM controller equipped with a PMBus interface, developed by Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) to meet the core power requirements of advanced AMD SVI3 platforms. It supports up to 12 phases of power management in total, configurable for up to 8 phases on rail 1 and up to 4 phases on rail 2 (8+4 phase structure). It works seamlessly with MPS's Intelli-Phase power products to provide a high-performance Voltage Regulator (VR) solution with minimal external components. Thanks to its advanced digital nonlinear control architecture, it provides an exceptionally fast and stable response to load transients while utilizing a minimal amount of output capacitors. The on-chip Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) enables safe storage and restoration of device configurations and system fault statuses. It is a specific and critical V-Core controller frequently used in modern graphics cards (GPUs) and high-end motherboard repairs, offering detailed telemetry data (voltage, current, power, and temperature) over PMBus.
