Product Features
The NCT6798D is a high-performance Super I/O and Hardware Monitor IC designed by Nuvoton specifically for new generation desktop PC motherboards. Unlike the EC/KBC ICs used in laptops, it sits at the heart of desktop motherboards, communicating with the PCH (Platform Controller Hub) via the LPC or eSPI (Enhanced Serial Peripheral Interface) bus. It manages the most critical processes for system stability: this chip is responsible for precise voltage readings on the motherboard, monitoring CPU and chassis thermal sensors (temperatures), and executing Nuvoton's advanced Smart Fan (PWM/DC) control algorithms. It does not feature an internal flash memory; unlike laptop chips, it requires no external programming and receives its operating instructions directly from the motherboard's main BIOS/PCH infrastructure. Provided in an industry-standard LQFP-128 package.
