Product Features 

The MP8017GL from Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) is an integrated, IEEE 802.3af-compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) powered device (PD) with a built-in flyback power converter. This IC is targeted for compact, 13W isolated PoE applications. The PD interface includes all required IEEE 802.3af functions, such as detection, classification, inrush current limiting, operational current limiting, and a 100V hot-swap MOSFET. The flyback converter is specifically designed for active-clamp primary-side regulation (PSR) topologies, which enables a small-sized solution without an auxiliary winding. It can also be configured for an active-clamp secondary-side regulation (SSR) topology using an optocoupler for optimized regulation. The MP8017 provides a front-end solution for PoE PD applications like security cameras, VoIP phones, and WLAN access points with a minimal number of external components.
