The IT8585E (IT8585E-FXA) is a high-performance Embedded Controller (EC) and Keyboard Controller (KBC) IC designed by ITE Technology for notebook motherboards. Provided in an industrial LQFP-128 leaded package structure, this hardware manages basic I/O (input/output) processes such as keyboard and touchpad interfaces, power sequencing, battery charge management, and thermal monitoring (fan control, temperature sensors) on the motherboard. As part of the advanced ITE architecture, this controller features an internal programmable eFlash (Embedded Flash) memory. Due to its hardware design, it is a technical necessity to program it with the appropriate firmware for the specific motherboard via the I2C or keyboard connector interface, depending on the motherboard's architecture, after assembly to fully initiate the system cycle.
