The TPS5401DGQR, TPS5401DGQT from Texas Instruments is a high-efficiency 0.5A step-down (buck) DC-DC converter with an integrated high-side MOSFET, operating over a wide input voltage range of up to 42V. This device utilizes a current-mode control architecture, which provides simple external compensation and flexible component selection. Its low-ripple pulse-skip mode (Eco-mode™) ensures high efficiency at light loads by reducing the no-load regulated output supply current to just 116 µA. By using the enable pin, the shutdown supply current can be lowered to 1.3 µA. Advanced features such as an adjustable switching frequency (100 kHz to 2.5 MHz), synchronization to an external clock, adjustable slow-start/sequencing, and an open-drain power-good signal make it an ideal solution for 12-V and 24-V industrial and commercial low-power systems, e-meters, and other applications.
