The ISL62776HRTZ is a multiphase PWM regulator designed by Renesas specifically for AMD processors (CPU/GPU), fully compliant with the AMD Serial VID Interface 2.0 (SVI2) protocol. This controller supports two Voltage Regulators (VRs) that utilize external drivers to provide maximum flexibility. The Core VR can be configured for 4-, 3-, 2-, or 1-phase operation, while the SOC VR supports 1-phase operation. Both VRs share a serial control bus to communicate with the AMD CPU, achieving lower costs and a smaller board area compared to two-chip solutions. The modulator, based on Renesas proprietary Robust Ripple Regulator (R3) technology, offers many advantages over traditional modulators, including faster transient settling time, variable switching frequency in response to load transients, and improved light-load efficiency due to diode emulation mode with load-dependent switching frequency. It is equipped with comprehensive protection features such as Overcurrent Protection (OCP/WOC), Overvoltage Protection (OVP), thermal monitoring, and power-good indicators.
