Product Features 

The BQ24725A is a high-efficiency SMBus host-controlled buck battery charge controller developed by Texas Instruments (TI) for laptops and portable devices. It is optimized to manage the charging operations of 1- to 4-cell Li-Ion and Li-Polymer batteries. With its built-in N-channel MOSFET selector mechanism, it automatically selects the system power source between the adapter and the battery. It features programmable switching frequency values of 615kHz, 750kHz, and 885kHz, allowing for the optimization of external inductor and capacitor sizes. It operates stably over a wide AC adapter input voltage range from 4.5V to 24V. To ensure system security, it is equipped with comprehensive protection hardware including over voltage protection (OVP), over current protection (OCP), and short circuit protection for the battery, inductor, and MOSFETs. With its programmable charge voltage, charge current, and input current limit functions, it controls the charging process with high precision. It is a compact VQFN-20 packaged power management IC frequently preferred in laptop battery charging circuits and portable power systems.
