The KB9026Q (KB9026Q C) is a standard Embedded Controller (EC) and Keyboard Controller (KBC) IC developed by ENE Technology for notebook motherboards. It is provided in an industrial LQFP-128 surface-mount package structure. It manages basic I/O (input/output) processes such as keyboard and touchpad interfaces, power sequencing, battery charge management, and thermal monitoring (fan control, temperature sensors) on the motherboard. As part of ENE's KB90xx series architecture, this controller features an internal programmable eFlash (Embedded Flash) memory. Since the hardware comes factory blank, it is a technical necessity to program it with the appropriate EC ROM (firmware) for the specific motherboard via the JTAG / keyboard connector interface before or after assembly to initiate the system cycle. It is a specific controller used in the I/O and power management circuits of notebook motherboards.
