The IT8227E-256 (IT8227E-256-CXA) is a high-performance Embedded Controller (EC) and KBC IC exclusively manufactured by ITE Tech for Lenovo devices. Bearing the original Lenovo logo as clearly seen in the visual, this hardware utilizes an industry-standard LQFP (leaded) package structure. As indicated by the chip code extension, it is equipped with a 256KB programmable eFlash (Embedded Flash) memory. Since the system will not trigger if the chip is installed blank, it is a technical necessity to program it with the appropriate firmware for the specific motherboard via the Parallel, I2C / keyboard connector interface before or after assembly.
