The IT5570VG-256 (IT5570VG-256-CXO) is a high-performance Embedded Controller (EC) and KBC IC designed by ITE Tech for laptops and portable systems. Bearing the ITE logo as clearly seen in the visual, this hardware utilizes a VFBGA (Ball Grid Array) package structure, unlike standard leaded (LQFP) I/O controllers, and requires BGA soldering techniques during the assembly process. As indicated by the chip code extension, it is equipped with a 256KB programmable eFlash (Embedded Flash) memory. Since the system will not trigger if the chip is installed blank, it is a technical necessity to program it with the appropriate firmware for the specific motherboard via the Parallel, I2C and keyboard connector interface before or after assembly.
