The BQ25700A from Texas Instruments is a high-efficiency, synchronous NVDC (Narrow-VDC) battery buck-boost charge controller designed for 1- to 4-cell (1S-4S) batteries. This IC supports a wide input voltage range from 3.5V to 24V, making it compatible with various power sources including USB adapters, high-voltage USB PD sources, and traditional adapters. Its NVDC power path management feature ensures that the system continues to operate even when the battery is completely discharged or removed. When the load power exceeds the adapter's capacity, the battery enters supplement mode to prevent the system from crashing. With advanced features like USB OTG (On-The-Go) support, a system power monitor, and an SMBus interface, it is an ideal charge management solution for portable devices such as ultra-books, notebooks, tablet PCs, and power banks.
